Mercedes crashes all the way through house

HUNTINGTON, N.Y., May 29 - Authorities in New York state said an allegedly drunk woman and her passenger were unharmed after slamming a convertible Mercedes through a home.
Suffolk County sheriff's deputies and firefighters said Sophia Anderson, 21, and her passenger walked away with only minor scratches and bruises Monday when the vehicle, which had the top down, took down a tree and crashed all the way through a
Huntington home, leaving items including cabinets, the kitchen sink and a stove scattered around the home's back yard, the New York post reported Tuesday.
The homeowner, Helen Indiere, 96, was unharmed.
Investigators said Anderson, who refused to submit to a breath test, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
"The impressive part was it was a ... convertible with the top down and there was barely a scratch" on Anderson and her passenger, Huntington Fire Chief Ken Cochran said. "They were very, very lucky."
Cochran said the incident could have been much worse had National Grid workers not quickly been able to close off a gas leak caused by the stove being ripped from the kitchen.
"It could have been a disaster," Cochran said.
