Mr Ochieng’ who worked in Nairobi’s Industrial Area
and his wife Diana operated a restaurant in the building that collapsed
on Saturday evening, killing six people, including them.
It is said that Both the man and wife would leave their respective work
places in the City center and go to Mlolongo to close their business before going back to a city estate where they lived together.
On Saturday at around 6pm, it was business as usual
for the couple. Diana was at the counter while her husband had started
balancing the accounts.
It appears that when the building started
collapsing, Diana panicked and rushed to her husband for safety. She clung onto him and that's finally how they met their deaths.
The couple had no children.
Acting Lower Eastern Red Cross Disaster Management
Officer Joe Mbalu said six people were killed in the tragedy while
seven are admitted to Shalom Community Hospital in Athi River and
Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.
